About the project (provided by the applicant)
The conception of the project arises as a response to the progressive loss of the natural habitat of native orchids. In this context, and recognizing that Colombia is positioned as the second most biodiverse country in the world, we propose an architectural proposal oriented to the contemplation, conservation and valorization of the orchid species of the Suaza River Valley. This proposal is based on the principles of biomimetics, incorporating graphene structures and biocement volumes that replicate the morphological transformations of the Cattleya Trianae, a representative orchid of the nation.
The adaptability of this species is translated in the design through curved shapes with a floating appearance, integrating water as an essential element of the natural environment. In addition, the network of pedestrian paths is articulated with the presence of tree species that strengthen the conservation of native species, strengthening the links between humans and their natural landscape.
