About the project (provided by the applicant)
The land of the project is located in Saint Petersburg, Russia by the river embankment, it is right next to a residential complex that we already designed in the first semester, so we had another challenge to consider how to relate both works. I decided to do orthodox church with Greek style, like what we have in Syria, and started the concept from monasteries, as it is the orthodox world the place of rest and reconnection with God. The concept was accomplished simply by creating a big round area in the center where everything starts and ends we a person can rest in the hands of God, just like with divine communion.
Also, as an architect that always seeks to renew, I dared to have a new suggestion of the exterior design, of course without changing the basic rules of orthodox church design.
