Project
New Stage of the Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre
Category
Best Project of Building or Facility by Student
About the project (provided by the applicant)
The Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre is one of the oldest and most renowned theatres in Russia. Several factors underline the urgent need for a new stage:
- The historic stage of the theatre is one of the smallest in Russia — 308 sq.m., which is 1.8 times smaller than modern standards require.
- The theatre’s technical infrastructure is significantly outdated.
- There is a severe shortage of rehearsal rooms, storage areas, and workshops.
The architectural concept of the new stage takes into account the complex relief and urban conditions of the site, as well as the need to integrate into the cultural and historical context of the city center. A key factor influencing the spatial solution is the pronounced height difference on the site, which allows for a dynamic, multi-layered composition of volumes.
