The federal cultural heritage site «Ensemble of the Pskovo-Pechersky Monastery,» 14th–20th centuries, is one of the oldest continuously operating fortified monasteries in Russia, featuring a cave necropolis — a remarkable historical and architectural complex. It houses unique examples of religious and defensive architecture from the 15th–20th centuries.
The monastery grounds, surrounded by massive stone walls with nine defensive towers, are situated in a ravine with steep slopes. The complex includes 11 churches, three of which are cave churches. To facilitate modern use of the ensemble, a sanitary and utility building was constructed to provide public restrooms for pilgrims and tourists, as well as utility rooms for monastery needs. The building is located to the right of the monastery entrance, within an existing terrain depression.
