We propose a public bathroom and a proscenium; a bathroom, which can be a function assigned to a specific area, and as an act and ritual, is private in its core and requires isolation. However, a proscenium is a public entity that everybody uses, both in terms of program and ritual. Still, more than what was mentioned regarding the need of privacy for bathroom, in Iran because of Islamic principle’s the men and woman bathroom should be completely separated, they can’t even use the same entrance, so we have to deal with another set of isolation to meet the non-negotiable Islamic principles, so the two opposition is used to create a dynamic situation between a private act and a public act, the two poles create a tension which in our opinion is a essence of every vigilant and interesting public spaces, the envisioned urban artifact condenses two very different and contradictory typologies, the bathroom requires separation but proscenium encourages togetherness.
