Pullman Club House

About the project (provided by the applicant)
“In 1909, architect Mechislav Pullman began his work in Saratov, designing for the city. And in the same year, Pyotr Utkin created his ‘Mimosa,’ which remains part of the collection of the Radishchev Museum to this day…” (V. S. Leshchukov, Chairman of the Urban Preservation Council under the Saratov Regional Duma). It was Leshchukov who proposed the idea of developing a club house in the historic center of Saratov, closely recreating the techniques and solutions of a house designed by Pullman that had been demolished in the second half of the 20th century. That building had once occupied a similar position in the neighboring block.
The Chief Architect of the region, Anastasia Puzanova, had earlier developed a strategy for revitalizing the historic center based on the heritage of the Saratov school of painting. For this reason, this project unites architect Pullman and painter Utkin — along with the local historian Denis Zhabkin (also known as Zhab Deniskin). Altogether, this project reflects Saratov’s cultural identity.
