Project
Waste Disposal and Recycling Center
Category
Best Project of Public Building or Facility
About the project (provided by the applicant)
The project for a waste disposal and recycling center in Crimea combines functionality, an eco-friendly approach, and contemporary architecture. On a 1-hectare site, the complex includes facilities for sorting, recycling, and disposal of waste, as well as an administrative building of 420 sq. m with offices, educational, and public areas.
The concept emphasizes accessible, natural, durable, and reusable materials, reflected in the building’s main material — shell rock — and decorative panels made from glass bottles. The architecture is inspired by the avant-garde works of Yakov Chernikhov: geometry, contrasts, and interplay of volumes create a memorable image symbolizing a progressive approach to environmental challenges.
The client’s project, Step to Space, aims to reduce waste, promote separate collection, and implement sustainable practices, combining technology, aesthetics, and environmental care.
