Project
Revitalization of the Sociocultural Environment of Rural Areas through the Development of the Library System
Category
Best Project of Public Space by Student
About the project (provided by the applicant)
In rural areas, libraries perform most functions of sociocultural spaces and can become a place for self-actualization by preserving and presenting the process of reading in a new form.
The study included theoretical research, which led to the development of an algorithm for organizing reading spaces. The algorithm consists of four blocks, each aimed at a specific type of library audience and containing a set of spatial characteristics.
The algorithm is applied in the design of the Privodino Library. For example, the entrance area, reception, transformable hall, and interactive wall are intended for non-readers. The transformable hall and part of the transit spaces target visitors who choose literature based on personal interests, primarily fiction. Spaces in the main reading room and parts of the library collection are organized for visitors selecting literature for self-development or professional purposes.
