Project
RO-Glamping in Karelia

About the project (provided by the applicant)
The project is based on the idea of deep unity between architecture and northern nature. Inspiration comes from massive Karelian stones, misty pine forests, and the harsh climate. The buildings of the complex appear not to be built but discovered within the rocks. The architecture avoids dominating the landscape and operates under the principle of “architecture as an extension of the rock.”
The key formula of the project is concrete + stone + glass, with existing boulders used as elements of façades and interiors. Flat concrete roofs rest on stone supports, reinforcing the sense of stability and monumentality.
The complex consists of individual pavilions, partially embedded in the slope, with open façades featuring panoramic glazing. This creates a feeling of complete seclusion while maintaining a visual connection with the forest and stones.
In the central part, a glamping hall is embedded in the rock and camouflaged with the terrain. Its roof continues the hill’s relief, and the façades are made of natural stone and glass.
