About the project
Historically, Arizona has one of the highest rates of refugee arrivals compared to other states of the USA. Sabeel serves as a hub where refugees can mourn the reality of what climate change has done to their homes while also reassessing their values and beliefs, soaking in the references to traditions many are accustomed to. Visitors will develop a fervent understanding and respect for precious natural resources through a generous and genuine life-changing celebration of diverse cultures from all corners of the world. As a result, the local community becomes more intimately connected by giving sensory spaces to refugees where they can share their own experiences in lieu of a language barrier. In the center of the research center is a fountain that connects to the building’s exterior for social interactions allowing for a sense of discovery and progression as the population grows. Eventually the center becomes more cost-effective due to the use of traditional passive cooling strategies.

Dr. Mohsen Moosavi has PhD in Architecture, Postdoctoral in Architectural Education, is a Sabbatical Researcher at the University of Tehran, Faculty Member at the University of Mazandaran, head of the "Architectural instructors Training Academy", Jury Member at the Golden Trezzini Awards, Jury Member at the A’Design Awards, one of the world’s largest awards in design, winner of more than twenty international architecture awards, author of 15 books and 50 articles about architecture.
