In 2025, a one-and-a-half-year comprehensive restoration of the building of School No. 2 named after V.P. Tikhonov (formerly the 15th Primary Male School) was completed. The building is known in Saratov both as the «Palace School» designed by architect S.A. Kallistratov and as the School of Heroes, as five Heroes of the Soviet Union graduated from it: V.P. Tikhonov, V.S. Simbirtsev, A.I. Kholzunov, V.S. Zarubin, V.A. Rogozhin. Almost all of them have streets named after them in Saratov. The school was on the verge of closure; its third floor was completely non-functional due to a leaking roof, and a high-rise built across the street caused structural issues with floors, foundation, and load-bearing walls.
