About the project (provided by the applicant)
Life in a big city is constant noise, in which a person ceases to hear themselves. The idea for this project emerged when the author found herself caught in the trap of urban hustle and bustle.
Kanonersky Island is an underrated yet highly atmospheric place. Just 25 minutes from the city center, it remains authentic and quiet — a stark contrast to the bustling metropolis, and an accessible point of tranquility.
Due to the flat terrain, which opens up views of the bay, it was decided to preserve the landscape by placing the entire building underground. Only occasional crater-like structures rise to the surface, casting pinpoint light into the interior spaces.
The museum becomes a place of inner focus, an opportunity to concentrate on silence — a phenomenon that is increasingly rare today.
The surrounding area is transformed into a landscaped park that preserves local identity. Wind-catching small architectural forms appear throughout the park, “playing” wind music, and along the shoreline, there are secluded seating areas with large horns directed toward the bay.
