About the project (provided by the applicant)
The new exhibition at the Slantsy Historical and Local History Museum, “Slantsy: Five Lives of One Land,” opened in 2025 following a major renovation of the museum. The renewal project marked the beginning of the museum’s new mission: to present local history within the context of global historical processes, connecting past, present, and future.
The exhibition is dialogical, engaging visitors in envisioning the future based on understanding the past of the specific territory — the city of Slantsy and the Slantsy District of Leningrad Region. Of the five “lives” (thematic-chronological periods), four are already history, while the fifth is just beginning. Its outcome depends on those who visit the museum today. Architectural and design solutions create an industrial aesthetic — reflecting the city’s industrial identity — while maintaining a welcoming and open environment where visitors feel confident and safe.
