About the project (provided by the applicant)
The Slate Hotel is located in the “Krasnoyarsk Stolby” nature reserve.
They say that to find yourself, you must first get lost – in the forest, among the rocks, in the clean air filled with the scent of trees. But how do you connect with nature without giving up comfort?
At Slate, architecture becomes modest. It steps into the background, giving the leading role to what has been here for centuries. Approaching the hotel, you do not see the building. You see… the forest. But a forest that changes. Walls clad in wet-stone-colored concrete continue the line of the rocks. They do not call attention to themselves.
Next, mirrors and glass come into play. The facades reflect and let through pine trunks, branches, and sky. In this play of reflections, the boundary between inside and outside blurs. The building literally dissolves into the landscape. Architecture here is the art of disappearance.
Slate offers a chance to disconnect from the chaos of the city and reconnect with the rhythm of nature. This is a place where architecture is not the goal, but a subtle, brilliant guide to a world of silence and harmony.
