About the project (provided by the applicant)
An idyllic story of divine matrimony, staged after the novella The Snowstorm by Alexander Pushkin.
The fairytale quality of the plot alludes to folk festivals and fortune-telling traditions. At the very center stands a large post—a vertical axis around which everything revolves, a symbol of walking under the gaze of God. Similar timber posts were used during public folk celebrations.
Curtains made of rope sway and spin by forces of nature, transforming into trees and interior scenes. Maidens and common folk in animal masks become the servants of the Snowstorm.
