Project
SPYGLASS Country Residence

Best Project of Private Residence

About the project (provided by the applicant)
A new, unconventional project for a country residence—especially on a narrow, elongated plot—always presents a creative challenge. The old fishing homestead near Azov allows for such plot divisions. The picturesque location, river access, and surrounding blooming fruit orchards provide ideal seclusion for a city dweller.

The architectural concept contrasts pseudo-historical construction with alternating internal courtyards and a light, modern structure on thin, almost invisible supports, appearing like a UFO landed on the site. The narrow layout determined sequential functional zones: garage, entrance area, kitchen/living/dining space, inner courtyard, swimming pool, fire pit, barbecue area, and private pier with water access. Family bedrooms are located on the second floor. This unfolding principle of living spaces reminded the architects of the opening and closing of a spyglass, inspiring the residence’s name: SPYGLASS.
