About the project
«
The first time I visited Sur, I was impressed with this mixture of past and modernity. I saw the wooden dhows continuing sailing in the sea for trade and fish without their floating sails,» the architect explains.
This proposal is inspired by Sur's dhows and its connection with the sea. The building represents a moored fleet of dhows in the harbor, waiting for the wind to pick up.
Since immemorial time, Sur has been a meeting point for cultures, commerce, and events that define its people's open and friendly character and their liveliness.
Sur's skilled carpenter hands produce beautiful, intricate, and expressive designs in the traditional doors, a mixture of many geometries coming from beyond the sea and their own.
Sur, it's a sienna-colored safe bay that shelters and invites you to enter and immerse yourself in the beauty of the city, including its old and new mountains surrounding it. Wild and warm that keeps a green and cozy secret in its hidden wadis and charming towns.
