Project
Swallows Wine Bar

Category
Best Implemented Interior Design Project for Public Space

About the project
It took one year to arrange a wine bar in the house of architect Hyppolit Pretreaus. The original patterns on the panoramic windows were restored. The door at the corner used to be covered by a granite slab announcing that Vladimir Lenin had visited the house. However, the size of the slab was wrong and was damaged during assembling, so they sent to the Urban Sculpture Museum, and the door was mounted in its rightful place. Arched windows were reinforced, and while removing layers of flooring, they discovered Mettlach tiling dating back to the early 20th century. Walls were cleaned from plastering and the architect discovered a cobalt band typical for old buildings and restored it. The house falls under protection of the Committee on State Control, Use and Protection of Historical and Cultural Landmarks.
