About the project (provided by the applicant)
Telar Villa is a contemporary reinterpretation of Gilan vernacular, where tradition, climate, and innovation converge. Elevated on columns, the structure rises above ground, addressing humidity while evoking a sense of suspension between earth and sky. Its steep roof, recalling the region’s thatched houses, is reimagined through minimalist geometry, offering a renewed vision of northern Iran’s heritage.
The ventilated void beneath reduces dampness, moderates temperature, and discreetly houses services—an age-old solution reimagined as a sustainable strategy. Inspired by gali-poosh roofs and rice-straw layers that once guided rainwater to the earth, facades and roof integrate subtle grooves that channel rainfall into a garden irrigation system.
A nearby lake invites fishing, rowing, and direct contact with nature. Transparent facades and terraces blur inside and out, turning Telar Villa into a manifesto of continuity between past and future, human and environment.
