The Grey House

Best Implemented Project of Private Residence

About the project
The Grey House is a 2-storey residential villa, designed to be a modern contemporary building. The form expresses a strong vertical element with punctures in regular geometries, yet in an abstract pattern, creating a play of shadows on the inner wall of the building. Due to the prominence of its form, the building was required to make a unique and innovative architectural statement. Consequently, the building expresses unconventional and disruptive character externally. An accumulation of voids and windows shaped by different sizes of squares creates a unique screen image from both outside and inside to achieve the described character. At night the wall as a giant screen adds to the drama created in the street with the play of squares lit-up in the facade.
