About the project (provided by the applicant)
Faced with an unfamiliar cognac market in China, the client sought to use spatial design to convey Hennessy’s spirit—heritage, nature, and craftsmanship—through an emotional and intuitive medium. The goal was not only to showcase products but also to create resonance, evoke emotion, and educate the market. Designers responded with the concept: “time is a silent distiller, space a wordless school,” leading visitors on an immersive brand journey.

Within a shopping mall, the 42㎡ site is transformed into a sensorial exploration of cognac, memory, and time. Structural constraints such as immovable facades and load-bearing columns were embraced. Instead of being concealed, columns are reimagined as vine posts and oak barrels infused with smoky aromas, enriching the cognac narrative. Gently curving timber walls enhance perspective while integrating storage and guiding circulation.
