About the project (provided by the applicant)
The project aims at the comprehensive renovation of a partially abandoned site, valued for its cultural and architectural significance and urban location. The site includes seven buildings of the “Red Barracks” dating back to 1904. The project involves the restoration of preserved buildings, reconstruction of the most deteriorated structures, and the construction of a new complex.
A key aspect is the creation of a cohesive public space that unites all elements and ensures the functionality of the area.
Key landscaping features include:
- A restored section of railway;
- Sunken parking areas between historic buildings;
- Distinctive entrance and access groups made of corten steel, directing people into the complex;
- A ramp-tunnel facilitating movement across the challenging terrain.
The main objectives of the site organization are to ensure convenience for movement and recreation, reference the historical context, and create a unified, comprehensive ensemble.
