About the project (provided by the applicant)
The Urban Observatory in Toronto is conceived as an organic ceramic shell that interacts with light and its surroundings. Its undulating form creates a sculptural impression where architecture transcends functionality and becomes art. The façade combines wood, glass, and ceramics in a harmonious rhythm of vertical planes, which curve and incorporate greenery, strengthening the connection with nature. The use of red ceramics gives the ensemble expressiveness and visual impact, creating a unified, modern, and striking appearance.
The project is intended not merely as a building but as an artistic gesture that resonates with the city, offering a space for contemplation and social interaction — an observatory that interprets the urban environment through the poetics of materials.
