Best Implemented Interior Design Project for Public Space
About the project (provided by the applicant)
TSUNAMI is a restaurant and bar in the center of Moscow where a historical space has been given a new concept without major reconstruction.
The task was to renovate an operating restaurant: during the day it continued to function, while at night we transformed the interior step by step. Preserving the ceilings, columns, and podium, we created a symmetrical layout with a central long table and a variety of seating zones — from intimate arrangements to a banquet-style VIP area. The semicircular bar and half-bar counter introduced dynamic geometry and new scenarios for communication.
Lighting scenarios highlight the contrast between day and night: soft light transitions to red illumination of glass blocks, evoking the atmosphere of nighttime Tokyo. Minimalist forms and natural materials are complemented by detailed accents — “shoji” partitions, “kipu” motifs, and handcrafted rattan panels.
Even the restrooms are part of the concept: graphic murals turn them into art spaces, continuing the narrative of the project. TSUNAMI unites the heritage of the building with contemporary design.
