Technical University Campus

Best Project of Building or Facility by Student
About the project (provided by the applicant)
The student campus, adapted to the conditions of the northern climate, serves as a driver for the development of educational infrastructure across the region.
The form of the building is based on design principles for harsh climatic conditions, including warm transitions between buildings and wind-protected public spaces.
The architectural appearance reflects the features of the Arctic nature and the history of the indigenous peoples of the peninsula. The use of smooth curvilinear forms references the city’s main symbol — the «Kovdor Snake.» A system of visual landmarks (light towers, color accents) ensures navigation in conditions of poor visibility.
The campus unites under one roof the key infrastructure of the Arctic single-industry town: information and educational facilities, sports complexes, halls for cultural and leisure activities, recreational and public areas, residential buildings for students and university staff, as well as testing laboratories for training future specialists.
