About the project (provided by the applicant)
The design begins with a hollow central mass—a calm, luminous void that, like the courtyards of traditional Iranian houses, forms the heart of life and circulation. This central space is reinterpreted through the chahar-soufeh (four-iwans) logic, a semi-transparent archetype rooted in traditional houses such as those in Zavareh, where the central courtyard was uncovered.Around this core, spaces are organized in a U-shaped hierarchy from public to private, recalling traditional Iranian homes. This approach promotes introversion, preserves privacy, and responds to the hot southern climate. On upper levels, the system combines stepped volumes that enhance vertical views toward the sky and void, echoing the way light once entered through chahar-soufeh arches. This language evokes the essence of introverted Iranian dwellings in a contemporary form.
