Public Art Installation “Weather at Home”

Category
Best Art in Outdoor Public Space

About the project (provided by the applicant)
The public art installation “Weather at Home” is located in the open courtyard of the iLove residential quarter, near the Ostankino Civil Registry Office.

The concept is based on the image of two merging umbrellas with a single handle, symbolizing family. Beneath their canopy, visitors are greeted by a hundred butterflies—an embodiment of tender love. Each figurine is handmade using the artist’s “biotypia” technique, painting on moving water. For the dome, the artist created an abstract composition on canvas.

The metaphor is clear: two people in love can overcome any “rain.” Orange and blue, warm and cool, merge to create harmony. For the artist, this color combination evokes the comfort of home: the flickering fire of a fireplace while it rains or snows outside.

The installation has become a new urban symbol of love: here visitors can feel “butterflies in their stomach” and confess their feelings under the umbrella dome for two.

Materials: steel, fiberglass, alkyd paints, biotypia technique. Dimensions: 3.6 × 2.5 × 4.3 m.
