«White Center» — public garden improvement project

About the project (provided by the applicant)
«White Center» is a rethinking of the space in front of Building D of YSTU, where the Institute of Architecture and Design is located. A previously faceless area is transformed into a new type of urban square — at the intersection of landscape, architecture, and art.
The main source of inspiration was the painting of Mark Rothko, especially «White Center». Here, color is not decoration but a design tool. The space is divided into four zones — pink, white, black, and yellow — each with its own botanical and emotional logic.
At the heart of the pink zone is the operated roof of a semi-underground parking lot, transformed into a terrace with ping-pong tables, swings, and flower beds. Old trees are replaced with maples, forming a new green structure.
The project raises the question: can public space become a living painting? «White Center» confidently gives an affirmative answer.
