PLAN BURO architectural bureau presented the concept for a new football stadium for the “Urartu” club. Located on the site of the existing “Nairi” stadium, the facility is intended to become not only an arena of international level but also a full-fledged public center for Yerevan. The concept was prepared as part of an open tender by FC “Urartu” and was separately recognized by the commission for its high quality.
The stadium’s architecture is based on the idea of “layers”: floors are shifted relative to each other, creating an expressive silhouette and additional spaces. A panoramic restaurant on the southern facade provides views of the mountain landscape and serves as a canopy over the parking entrances. The western facade is more voluminous, with deep light and shadow effects, easily readable from the highway at a distance, while the northern and eastern facades are smoother and more restrained — harmoniously integrated into the residential surroundings and comfortable from the human eye level.
