Children’s Library “Your Territory”

Best Design Project for Library

About the project (provided by the applicant)
The project of a new-generation children’s library was implemented in Gubkinsky, one of the youngest cities in Russia (average age of residents — 26 years). Considering the city’s compactness, harsh climate, and active community, the library has become a multifunctional creative cluster in the city center.

The key idea was to create an open environment for different age groups — from children to parents. Here visitors can read, watch films, attend lectures, organize events, work, or relax while children play in a safe area.

The layout is based on a clear axis: a central hall-corridor, where the library’s main activities are displayed, serves as the compositional and functional core. On both sides of it are arranged zones: open play and public spaces at the front, and workshops and a conference hall deeper inside. This ensures intuitive navigation throughout the space. The project reflects a contemporary approach to libraries as centers of communication, education, and leisure.
