About the project (provided by the applicant)
The museum and exhibition center is an integral part of the composition of the Memorial Complex dedicated to the memory of peaceful citizens of the Soviet Union who perished during the Great Patriotic War. Two semi-sunken pavilions were developed, connected by a unified underground space and a shared open area. The single-story buildings are recessed 4 meters relative to the general site and have variable roof heights. This creates a dynamic composition of two pavilions, whose silhouettes symbolize bent flags. The sloped, usable roof at the center of the complex’s layout transitions into paving and forms a kind of amphitheater, opening onto the main memorial monument. The walls along the ramps around the buildings are decorated with frames of wartime photo chronicles. The total area of the complex, including the open area of the entrance and transitional pavilion, is 5,099.79 m². The area of the individual pavilions, excluding underground passages, is 1,500 m² each.
