Project
Modernization of a New-Type Model Library
Category
Best Design Project for Library
About the project (provided by the applicant)
The project focuses on the Zaoksk Intersettlement Centralized Library System (MKUK). The library is located on the second floor of a standalone House of Culture building. The project provides for the redevelopment and modernization of the existing library premises. Functionally, the library spaces are divided into two types: visitor areas and staff areas. Visitor areas include an event hall with children’s and teen zones, an adult reading room, and an archive. Staff areas include the director’s office, a methodological office, and the acquisitions department office. The foyer serves a welcoming function and acts as the face of the facility. The wall mural composition contains images connected to the history and achievements of the Zaoksky District, including references to the region’s main gem — the V.D. Polenov Museum-Reserve.
