Project
Descent to the Water near Zhumbaktas Rock
Category
Best Architectural Project Created with Hand-Drawn Graphics
About the project (provided by the applicant)
The project is dedicated to creating an architectural descent to the water in the area of the natural monument Zhumbaktas Rock (Lake Borovoe, Kazakhstan). Zhumbaktas is the symbol of Borovoe, surrounded by legends and forming an important part of the cultural and natural landscape. The main goal of the project is to emphasize the harmony between the natural form of the rock and human architectural intervention.
The minimalist geometry of the elements does not compete with the plasticity of the stone but highlights its expressiveness. The descent to the water is organized with terraces and stair flights integrated into the terrain. The rhythm of the steps alludes to the stratification of mountain rocks, while the resting and observation platforms are oriented towards the views of Zhumbaktas, the lake, and the silhouettes of the mountains.
For visualization, Chinese ink wash was chosen: the layering of tones conveys the texture of the stone and the multilayered relief. The contrast between soft transitions and sharp architectural lines creates the image of a dialogue between nature and man.
