Project
A Lofty Nest

Category
Best Project of Private Residence

About the project
Designed on the idea of reliving the childhood fantasy of staying in a treehouse, the design was part of a competition by Volume Zero.
Built using wood, bamboo, and ferro cement, the structure mimics the nest of a weaver bird. the dense framework duplicates the elaborately woven nest. the skin of the structure resembles the texture of the skin of a snake. the characteristics derived both from the prey and the predator curate a certain dialect that showcases the harmonious union of nature’s duality.
The floor plan is a free-flowing layout that consists of three floor plates connected via bridges made in wood and bamboo.
The lowest level is the central deck that serves as a seating area and a view point for the surrounding landscape. It also serves as a node that connects to both the second and third level.
The second level hosts the semi-private zones like the kitchen, dining and living areas.
The third level includes the private areas like bedroom, bathroom along with swimming pool.
