The Golden Trezzini Awards for Architecture and Design is named after Domenico Trezzini (1670—1734), the first architect of St. Petersburg, born in Switzerland. The Awards has been taking place since 2018, supported by the Representative Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation in St. Petersburg, the Embassy of Russia in Switzerland, the Embassy of Switzerland in Russia, the Consulate General of Switzerland in St. Petersburg, the Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture (KGA), the State Committee on Control, Use and Protection of Historical and Cultural Landmarks (KGIOP), the World Club of St. Petersburgers, the Union of Architects of Russia, the Union of Renovators of Russia and St. Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering (SPbGASU).

The Awards mission is to establish a new expert community that will bring together architectural, design, renovation and museum professionals along with diplomatic, business, media, state, and academic representatives, and people of art.

The main objective of the Awards is to acknowledge and promote architectural and designer projects which can be referred to as artwork in terms of the artistic value.

Entries for 20 nominations of the Third Golden Trezzini will be accepted at from April 15 through October 15, 2020.

Participation in the Awards is free of charge.

We invite nominees from all over the world: developers and planners, architects and renovators, designers and interior decorators, as well as students of architecture schools and departments. 

The Golden Trezzini Awards 2020 will be arranged in two stages. Finalists of the first stage will be shortlisted by the Qualification Committee from May 15 through November 2. The finalists will be announced on November 5. From November 6 through 20, projects submitted by the finalists will be evaluated by the international Jury comprising 60+ experts from France, Germany, Italy, Russia, Switzerland, and the USA. The Jury will vote online, and will be audited by the Borenius legal company. The winners are to be announced on December 1.

The Awards winners will be awarded with Golden Trezzini figurines and diplomas during the Awarding Ceremony which will take place at Belmond Grand Hotel Europe, St Petersburg, on December 1, 2020

The best projects by competitors will be added to the collection of the Architectural Graphics Fund at the Museum of St. Petersburg History and take part in an annual exhibition at the Peter and Paul Fortress.

The Awards is established by Zolotoy Trezzini Ltd. and arranged by Nash Gorod Ltd.
The State Museum of St Petersburg History is the general partner of the Awards.
The independent auditor of the Awards is Borenius Attorneys Russia Ltd.

The First Golden Trezzini Awards for Architecture and Design, held in 2018, accepted entries from St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region based participants. The Awards coincided with the 300th Anniversary of the new Russian state administrative bodies establishment – the collegia, which had required a separate building. To select the best construction project, Peter the Great announced the first ever architectural competition. The work submitted by Domenico Trezzini was the best. This was how the globally known memorial of the Petrine Barocco appeared, the Twelve Collegia Building.

In total, 170 projects were submitted for the Awards 2018, and the Jury selected the winners of 10 basic and 2 special categories. The Awarding Ceremony for the winners and awardees of the Golden Trezzini Awards took place in the Naryshkin-Trubetskoy Mansion on November 29, 2018.  

The Second Golden Trezzini Awards (2019) were all-Russian with limited international participation. 350 projects from over 50 cities and regions of Russia, Belorussia, Abkhazia, Great Britain, Latvia, UAE, Finland, and South Korea contested for main prizes at the Second Golden Trezzini Awards, including 79 projects in the category of urban housing and apartments, submitted by top operators of the real estate market from 15 Russian cities and regions.

The winners were awarded certificates and designer Golden Trezzini figurines in the Atrium of the Commandant House within the Peter and Paul Fortress on November 27, 2019.

Kull, Consul General of Switzerland in St. Petersburg; Jeon Kwon Se, Vice Consul of the Republic of Korea in St. Petersburg; Son Ilsuk and Kim Yongtae, Consuls of the Republic of Korea in St. Petersburg; Uwe Kunz, General Manager of Lotte Hotel in St. Petersburg; Jan Skuratowski, Head of the Jan Skuratowski Architektur (Basel, Switzerland); Pavel Prigara, Director of the Central Exhibition Hall Manege; Oleg Romanov, President of the Union of St. Petersburg Architects;  Nina Shangina, Chairman of the Board of the St. Petersburg Union of Renovators; Sergey Duzhnikov, Chairman of the Board of the Union of St. Petersburg Designers; Alexey Belousov, CEO of the Self-Regulating Organization Association of St. Petersburg Builders; Oleg Britov, Vice President of the Russian Union of Builders for the North-Western Region; heads of developer and financial entities, as well as top St. Petersburg and Russian architects and designers.

The Golden Trezzini Awards 2020 became international thanks to the support of the Representative Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation in St. Petersburg. In this regard, the International Council of the Awards was established in February 2020. The mission of the International Council is to promote architectural diplomacy, as well as to connect countries across the globe through participation of their architects, designers, renovators, and students in St. Petersburg-based competitions, exhibitions, and conferences, consolidated under the name of Domenico Trezzini (1670–1734).

The Honorary Chairman of the International Council is Mikhail Piotrovsky, President of the World Club of Petersburgers, Director of the State Hermitage. Vladimir Zapevalov, Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation in St. Petersburg, is the Chairman of the Council. The Council includes Sergei Garmonin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Switzerland; H.E. Yves Rossier, the Ambassador of Switzerland in Russia; Roger M. Kull, the Consul General of Switzerland in St. Petersburg; Kwon Dong Seok, Consul General of the Republic of Korea in St. Petersburg; Marina Loshak, Director of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, and Valentina Orlova, the Chairman of the Board of the World Club of Petersburgers. 

Roger M. Kull, Consul General of Switzerland in St. Petersburg, is the Honourary Chairman of the Golden Trezzini Awards Jury. The international part of the Jury also includes the President of the International Union of Architects (UIA) Thomas Vonier, a descendant of the 1st St. Petersburg architect Domenico Trezzini Lorenzo Trezzinihead of SPEECH and Tchoban Voss Architekten architectural bureaus Sergei Tchoban, co-founder of the architecture studio Holzer Kobler Architekturen Tristan Kobler, architect and the chairman of Lazar Khidekel Society (USA) Mark Khidekel, Swiss architect of Russian origin Jan Skuratowski, General Director of the Raffaele Gambassi architectural studio (Siena) Raffaele Gambassi, Associate Professor of Politecnico di Milano Elsa Garavaglia, and other experts.
