Andrew Stone, Head of the Cass School of Art, Architecture and Design at London Metropolitan University has joined the international expert panel on the jury for the 2020 Golden Trezzini Awards for Architecture and Design.

Andrew Stone is Head of the Sir John Cass School of Art, Architecture and Design at London Metropolitan University where he is also Director of Interiors. He is a prominent design educator in the UK with a practice background in Interior Design.

Mr. Stone was previously Associate Dean in the Faculty of Architecture and Spatial Design at London Metropolitan and was Academic Chair for Design at Middlesex University.
He has an extensive and wide-ranging knowledge of Art, Architecture and Design education in the UK. He has represented his subject area at the Council for Higher Education in Art and Design (CHEAD) and was a member of Review group for the QAA Subject Benchmark in Art and Design (2008). He has extensive External Examiner experience and has validated courses across a wide range of Art and Design subjects in the UK and overseas.

He has taught Interior Design and Architecture for over 30 years at Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Doctoral level in the UK and Europe. He is a founder member of Interior Educators (IE), the national subject association for those teaching about the Interior in the UK, for which he was Chair between 2008 and 2010, and Vice-Chair from 2010 to 2011. He organised and delivered the highly successful IE conference ’Inside the City’ in November 2018.

London Metropolitan University, commonly known as London Met, is a public research university in London, England. The University of North London (formerly the Polytechnic of North London) and London Guildhall University (formerly the City of London Polytechnic) merged in 2002 to create the university. With roots going back to 1848, it is one of London's oldest educational institutions.

The university has campuses in the City of London and in the London Borough of Islington, a museum, archives and libraries. The Graduate Centre of London Met was designed by Daniel Libeskind, a Golden Trezzini Awards Jury member.

The International Golden Trezzini Awards for Architecture and Design is named after Domenico Trezzini (1670—1734), the first architect of St. Petersburg and the founder of Petrine Baroque. The Awards has been held in St. Petersburg since 2018, supported by the Representative Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the Russian Federation in St. Petersburg, the Embassy of Russia to Switzerland, the Embassy of Switzerland to Russia, the Union of Architects of Russia, the Architectural Council of Moscow, and other Russian and international authorities.

The motto of the Awards is “Architecture as Art.” The Awards is intended to scout for architectural, designer and restoration projects that in terms of artistic value can be regarded as works of art. The Golden Trezzini’s work shall be coordinated by the International Council, chaired by Mikhail Piotrovsky, President of the World Club of St. Petersburgers and General Director of the State Hermitage. The Awards Jury includes 180+ experts from 28 countries.

The winners will be awarded with Domenico Trezzini golden figurines on December 1 in St. Petersburg. The best projects submitted by the participants of the Golden Trezzini-2020 will be showcased at an exhibition in the Peter and Paul Fortress, and then added to the collection of the State Museum of St. Petersburg History.

Entries for the Thirds International Golden Trezzini Awards for Architecture and design can be submitted at www.goldtrezzini.ru till October 15, 2020. Participation in the Awards is free of charge.
