About the project
The currently abandoned building of the Kirovsk-Murmansk railway station is located at the Bolshoy Woodyavr Lake, in the center of the town of Kirovsk, surrounded by the Khibiny mountain group. This place used to be a place to start a trip and a beacon for those coming back, but now it will be a place to start something else. From the revitalized building, tourists will set off to hike in the mountains.
For almost 30 years the station building has been merging with the urban environment – in particular, it was densely graffitted, and that’s why it was decided to keep its current appearance. The mirror structure on the façade will dematerialize the unwanted design pieces and highlight its assimilative appearance by reflecting the mountain peaks.
