The Trading and Industrial Partnership House of F.G. Bazhanov and A.P. Chuvaldina with Courtyard Wings

The Bazhanov House is an architectural monument in the Art Nouveau style, built at the beginning of the 20th century for the Trading and Industrial Partnership of F.G. Bazhanov and A.P. Chuvaldina according to the design of architect Pavel Aleshin. The front façade of the building has complex architectural décor: cladding with granite slabs and ceramic tiles, openwork metal décor and stone décor.

In 2024, on the order of the Client Directorate of LLC “MATIS,” large-scale restoration of the formal and courtyard façades of the building began. The building was included in the Façade Programme for the restoration of multi-apartment houses that are monuments.

On the basis of the design solution approved by KGIOP and developed by LLC “AZHIO,” works for the restoration of the building’s façades were carried out. The historic wrought-iron grilles of the basement windows were restored, canopies were recreated according to historical analogues, and the entrance doors of the nine formal staircases were restored with facet-glass glazing. Works were also performed on the restoration of ceramic tiles and “kabanchik” tiles, on the restoration of the load-bearing structures of the balconies and on the restoration of the historic railings.
