Casa Rías Baixas

About the project
The house is a response to different needs of the client and the place.
The orientation, the views and the privacy are the reason why we have this volumes game.
The first need was to create a frame to the main view: Las Islas Cíes. So we create a big concrete volume that rests in two stone boxes. Creating a huge cantilever, that acts as a porch creating an in&out feeling in the main floor. An open space, with double heigh, visual connections and two private areas.
Two volumes made of stone, that generates privacy, is where the kitchen and the main bedroom are located. These are characterized by openings that are located depending on the orientation of the house to maximize the natural light entrance and the privacy. A game of big timber slats is used to organize the interior view relations and to close the views to the neighbours. In the second floor the other rooms such as bedrooms, studio and gym are located looking at the estuary.
