The Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord with side-chapels of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker and the Great Martyr Irene of the ensemble of the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery was built by local stonemasons (1595) above the already existing Water Gates leading to the lake. The composition with zakomara completion and a group of three helmet-shaped domes is extremely picturesque. The façades are adorned with bands of ornamental brick décor, pilaster strips, decorative niches and perspective portals. The lost upper completion was restored (1978) according to the design of S.S. Podyapolsky. The porch originally had arched openings on all sides; on the eastern façade they have been reopened. Owing to weak soils the church has a pronounced tilt towards the lake. In the interior the authentic tyablo iconostasis contemporary with the church, the work of Stroganov masters, has been fully preserved.
In the course of the works reinforcement of the load-bearing structures, restoration of the façades, interiors and joinery of window and door openings, opening of the arched openings of the porch, and recreation of the floor coverings were carried out.
