Project
Coral Gables, Florida Residence

Nomination
Best Implemented Interior Design Project Using Works of Art

About the project
The design of the 10,000 square foot Coral Gables, Florida residence uses color to reflect the spirit of Miami, complete with Latin American art, in collaboration with the client, an artist. In the circular living room, interior architect and designer Elizabeth Steimberg used pops of blue, green and the client’s favorite color, red, to create a lively and fun atmosphere. Juxtaposed with clean, white art and accessories, the space, once a challenge with its unique shape and 20’ ceilings, is transformed into a dreamy representation of South Floridian style. Steimberg used the accent colors in the living room to connect the other spaces throughout the house, creating a completely unique design for each room that aesthetically complements one another. Inspiration from the sea and sky is found in the bedroom, with modern decor including a bench styled after an ocean wave and custom hand-knitted “clouds” on the light fixtures.
