Project
Multifunctional convention hall with a theater in Banja Luka

Nomination
Best Project of Public Building or Facility

About the project
Banja Luka is a city with marvelous mountain landscapes. The authors had to place a complex up to 35 thousand m2 on a restricted site, meaning it had to be rather high. To reduce the building’s unfavorable impact on the environment, the authors decided to use the reversed shape of a mountain and extend the area of every next floor. At the ground level, a large public space was designed for holding events and walking. The peculiar structure of the building created shelters over the entrances to the theater and the convention hall. The double metal plate façade protects the building from overheating.
