About the project
The project is an investigation centre located in a fishing district. We noticed the area was lacking turistic activity and was having large periods of drought. We also wanted to bust the local industry because as the river kept drying, fisherman were going to have to find another source of income in the future. We wanted to capture the rain water (that happens ocassionally) while showing a problem.
We started by stablishing open, closed, and flexible programs, as well as rigid areas inside the flexible ones. The building has an investigation area, a library, workshop spaces, a residential area and an auditorium. These spaces are linked by the encountering spaces of the central space and the exposition room, which is a corridor, where people are meant to walkthrough.
The curved roof collects rain water, being able to vinculate what happens in the roof with the activity of the spaces it links. This building gathers investigators and locals. Glass windows allow the spaces to connect.
