Project
Interlagos' Waterfront: Architecture and Landscape at the margins of the Reservoir of Guarapiranga

Category
Best Project of Public Space by Student

About the project
The project approaches the territory of the Reservoir of Guarapiranga's eastern margin in the Capela do Socorro subdistrict. Considering the underutilized potential of public spaces in the region, the Project’s main goal is the design of a whole Waterfront Park that integrates free spaces and provides public access to the reservoir margins. The approached section has the significance of being in the Interlagos neighborhood, designed by french urban planner Alfred Agache as an «inland beach», and the site for the Santapaula Yacht Club, designed by architects Vilanova Artigas and Carlos Cascaldi. The project sees Artigas and Cascaldi’s design as an inspiration of integrated architecture and landscape, with a skywalk that connects the former club’s Building and Boat Garage. The public space is open for fruition with areas for sport, playing and contemplation, with access to the reservoir waters, and floor design invites the public to approach the waters.
