About the project

The memorial to Prince Mikhail Ivanovich Khilkov, a railway expert, has already won in a design competition. Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov and Chief of the October Railways Viktor Golomolzin opened this memorial on November 1, 2022, to commemorate the 185th Anniversary of the Russian Railways.

The memorial presents Mr. Khilkov dynamically, as if eager to master the new ways. He was a minister but not the one that spends all his time in an office. He personally took part in railway construction in Siberia, at the Baikal, and the Far East.
