Best Implemented Restoration / Reconstruction Project

About the project
Recovery of historical look of the St. Peter and Paul Chapel was of great importance for Kronstadt. The key objective of the project was to save the existing granite socle and minimize replacement of lost parts with new granite elements, giving precedence to old blocks and their restoration. Initially, the Chapel was founded in 1909 and finalized in 1910, but in 1927 it was partially disassembled, and its premises were used as a warehouse, In 1935 the portrait sculpture of Peter the Great was replaced by the one of Vladimir Lenin, and by then the Chapel was totally dismantled.
