Micheliny Martins Store

About the project
The Micheliny Martins Store is one of the most complete, modern and traditional furniture stores in the city of Belo Horizonte. The first store was designed on top of the foundations of an old demolished house. A metal shed was then built with stairs and walls in cyclopean concrete. We created a contrast between the walls and ceilings with white ceramic cobogós on the facade, used to contain the incidence of the setting sun. The project demanded more space for the store and the incorporation of the house next door. So, started by structuring the walls and roofs, and this was the concept of the project. We “peeled” and kept the older brick walls, and kept the other walls white, like the ones in the initial store. Then, we made the metal structure “loose”, with small holes that accentuated this purpose, highlighting the structure instead of hiding it. With a short deadline and limited budget, we were able to use basic materials that harmonized perfectly with the existing store.
