New Kremlin Museum

Best Architectural Design for a Museum

About the project
The new museum of the Moscow Kremlin will take the collection from the Armory behind the Kremlin walls and make it accessible and open.
The Museum will comprise two parts, a historical and a contemporary. Some of it will be housed in the reconstructed old building of the Middle Shopping Street. The rest of it will occupy the new contemporary block built inside the old building. Two venues will be connected by airbridges, and immense windows of the new block will offer a view of the carved ancient facade.
Small rooms of the old bazaar will contrast with the extensive exhibition space within the new building — a set of roomy halls under a high arched ceiling.
