Restoration of the Old Chalet in Pavlovsk Park

The Old Chalet Pavilion, erected in 1780, is one of the earliest structures of the Pavlovsk Palace and Park Ensemble. A "rustic hut" in the pastoral spirit characteristic of Enlightenment-era parks, with a thatched roof, it housed a richly decorated hall painted by the artist A.F.G. Viollier.

The monument was destroyed during the Nazi occupation of Pavlovsk. Its restoration has always remained one of the museum's most crucial tasks. In 1964, the 9th Workshop of Lenproekt, under the leadership of the prominent Leningrad restoration architects S.V. Popova-Gunich and E.N. Petrova, developed a restoration project, which could not be realized at the time.

Comprehensive restoration and reconstruction work on the monument and the adjacent park area was carried out in 2024–2025. The completed work became a direct continuation of the traditions of the Leningrad school of restoration, which was born during the recovery from wartime destruction.

Today, the Children's Practical School of Gardening and Horticulture operates here.
