Project
Pykhtino Metro Station

Nomination
Best Project of Public Space

About the project
The Pykhtino metro station will become the Aircraft Designer Tupolev’s station later, referring to the aircrafts designed by Andrey Tupolev, also known as TU. The key interior motives are ceiling lights – differently oriented cylinder turbines on a platform, as well as the moving staircase, continued with a light tunnel: a round skylight lets in some sun, a TU 144 model floating in its beams.
Sun catching structures on one of the track walls visually extend the space of the station towards the Likova River, backed by the vague shapes of the Vnukovo airport.

The opposite blind wall showcases a graphical chronology of Soviet aircrafts.
